Maude Ida (Thomas) Card
Shell Rock - Maude Ida Card, 84, of Shell Rock, died Sunday afternoon, Aug. 20, at the Shell Rock Care
Center.

Maude Ida Thomas was born on Aug. 13, 1894 in Ipava, Illinois the daughter of Charles and Grace Harding
Thomas. She moved to Shell Rock with her parents at an early age. On June 24, 1914 she was united in
marriage to James Card in Allison. The couple farmed near Mason City, and in 1924 moved int Mason City. In
March, 1936, they moved to a farm north of New Hartford and in 1950 retired and moved to Shell Rock.

Following her husbands death on July 29, 195, Ida moved to California to live with her son, Bill. In 1974 she
returned to this area and became a resident of the Shell Rock Care Center in July, 1976.

Surviving are three sons, Glenn of Shell Rock, Clarence "Bud" of Parkersburg, William "Bill" of Bonanza, Oregon;
one daughter, Mrs. Jeanette Hook of Vinton; two sister, Mrs. Alta Jackson of Waterloo, Mrs. Dorothy Smythe of
Apache Junction, Arizona; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Donna Mae in infancy, and one brother,
Harry.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 23, 1901:30 p.m. at the Kaiser Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock
with Rev. Donald Peterson of Grace Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Shell Rock.
Friends may call at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock.
Gary L. Card- Parkersburg Eclipse, Oct. 18, 1989
Gary L. Card of Grundy Center, was born November 5, 1931, in Waterloo, Iowa. He passed away
Monday, October 9, 1989 at 4:25 a.m. at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. He attained the
age of 57 years, 11 months, and 4 days.

He was born the sone of Howard and Leona Lubbert Card of Beaman, Iowa.

He graduated from high school in 1949 Beaman, he entered the military and served with the Marines from
1951 - 1954 in the Korean War, then came back to Beaman, then to Grundy Center where he was employed
at the Courthouse from 1969. In 1981 Gary was appointed County Assessor.

He was united in marriage to LaBonna Carman on October, 23, 1982, in Reinbeck, Iowa.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie of Grundy Center; his parents Howard and Leona Card of Beaman; one son
Patrick Card of Des Moines; three daughters Mrs. Doug (Mitzi) Tjaden of Wellsburg, Mrs. Harold (Riki)
Abels of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Shawn Card of Marshalltown; two step-daughters Mrs. Larry (Pamela)
Luiken of Eldora and Cheryl Blom of Waukee; one brother Larry Card of Parkersburg; and two step
grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church, Beaman, on Thursday, Oct. 12, 1989 at 10:30
am.m with Rev. Harold Schirm officiating.

Mr. Don Schildroth sang "how Great Thou Art" and "The Lord's Prayer". He was accompanied by Mrs.
Rober Winter, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

Casket bearers were Wayne Zimmerman, Leonard Ralstori, Dean Middleton, Tim Meyers, Steve Holcom,
and Don Kliebenstein. Paul Sanderson was usher.

Interment was in the Oakland Cemetery, Beaman. Military Rites were conducted by the Weatherman-Walter
Post #131.

Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center, was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
Dora (Olthoff) Bommgarden - Grundy Register - Feb 24, 1962
Mrs. Dora Boomgarden, daughter of Peter and Grace Wiarda Olthoff, was born March 9, 1884 in Germany.
She came to Iowa with her parents when she was a child. On December 16, 19116 she was married to
Martin Boomgarden at the Bethel Reformed Church near Kesley. The family farmed for many years in the
Bristow vicinity and for the past 13 years have lived northwest of New Hartford.

Mrs. Boomgarden had been in failing health for some time and passed away at the farm home on Wednesday
evening at the age of 77 years, 11 months, and 12 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 grandchildren, two brothers and 1 sister. Surviving are her
husband, Martin Boomgarden, Sr., 3 sons Martin Jr. of Ackley; Pete of Allison; and Reuben of Bristow; 1
daughter, Ruth (Mrs. Andrew Lindaman) of Aplington; 10 grandchildren and 1 sister, Mrs. Herman Groen of
Parkersburg.

Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 24th, at the Hitesville Gospel Hall with Paul Elliott and
Harm Harms in charge of the service. Interment was made in Dumont Cemetery at Dumont.
Obituary of Mrs. Clara M. Hersey Bloomfield - Grundy Register, 1962
Mrs. Clara M. Hersey Bloomfield, daughter of Levi and Deborah Codner Hersey was born March 29, 1876 in
Grundy County. She was married on August 24, 1904 at Grundy Center, Iowa to Ira Bloomfield.
Before her marriage she taught school for ten years in Beaver and Pleasant Valley Townships in Grundy County
and also at Holland, Iowa. The family lived for 8 years at Decorah, Iowa before moving to the farm 3 miles east
of Parkersburg where she spent the rest of her life.

Mrs. Bloomfield suffered the first of several strokes nearly 2 years ago and had been bedfast since that time.
She passed away on Saturday evening, May 19 at the age of 86 years, 1 month, and 19 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister; a granddaughter and a grandson.

Surviving are her husband, Ira one son, Iver, and one daughter, Mrs. Naomi Brammer all at home. Two
grandsons, Laverne and Larry Atteberry in California, 2 great grandsons and 1 great grand daughter. Also one
sister, Mrs. Coy Sansenbach of Parkersburg.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bloomfield will be today, (Wednesday) at 1:30 p.m. at the Engelkes Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Codner Cemetery at Sinclair.
