Floyd S. Card - Sept. 8, 1975
Services for Floyd S. Card, 85, of 1122 River Forest Rd., will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Assembly of God
Church.

He died at 7:30 a.m. Monday at home of heart failure. He was born Dec. 9, 1889, the son of Perry and Jane
Ackerson Card. He married Etta Faye Tucker July 27, 1910, at Waterloo. She preceded him. He later married
Lula Morton Kelly Sept. 10, 1956, at Hampton.

He was employed by John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 16 years and then for the City of Waterloo
sanitation department. He was a well-known horse trainer in the area for most of his adult life.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Goldie Davis of 1122 Chalmer Ave.; three sons, Rev. L. C. (Jack)
Card of Dayton, Ohio, Floyd Jr. of 1116 W. Wellington St. and Gale of La Porte City; a sister, Mrs. Mae
Rasmussen of Windsor Care Center, Cedar Falls.

Friends may call at Oppold Funeral Home after 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Mabel Ann (Gruver) Card - 1986
Evansdale - Services for Mabel Ann Card, 82, of 210 Evans Road, Apt. 104, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at
Parrott & Wood Funeral Home, Waterloo, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo.

She died early Tuesday (Oct. 28) at covenant Medical Center at West Ninth Street.

She was born March 8, 1904, in Independence, daughter of Arthur and Kate Yockey Gruver. She married
Mert Card on aug. 10, 1926, in Waterloo. He died in January 1964.

Survivors include three sons, LaVerne and Lloyd, both of Waterloo, and Donald of Evansdale; three
daughters, Jane Abbott of Elk Run Heights, Dorothy Carr of Waterloo and Marlene Reints of Aplington; 14
grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; three sisters, Marie Wilson, Bernice Carr and Mary Jensen, all of
Waterloo; and a brother, Everett Gruver of Marshalltown; she was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly;
a grandson and two great grandsons; and two brothers.

Friends may call until 9 p.,. today and from 9 a.m. to services Thursday at the funeral home, where the family
will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
Mert C. Card - January 1964
Mert C. Card, 60, of 511 Center St., died at Allen Memorial Hospital at 9:15 a.m., Tuesday, of an asthmatic
heart condition. He was a former roofer and had been a patient since Jan. 19.

Mr. Card was born March 5, 1903 at New Hartford, the son of Perry and Jane Ackerson Card. He had
resided here the past 45 years and had previously lived at 410 E. 9
th St.

On August 11, 1926, he married Mabel Gruver in Waterloo. He was employed as a roofer for the Lenzner
Roofing Co. He retired in 1960.

Mr. Card is survived by his wife, three sons, LaVerne, of 2507 E. 4th St.; Lloyd, of Seligman, Mo.; and
Donald, of 316 Lawrence Ave., Evansdale; three daughters, Mrs. Arnie Abbott; of 240 Toneff Dr., Elk Run
Heights; Mrs. Kenneth Smith, of 315 E. 10
th St.; and Mrs. Darryl Reints, of Traer; nine grandchildren; and one
brother, Floyd of River Forest Rd., Evansdale.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, and several brothers and sister.

Services will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, at the Chapel of Memories with the Dr. C. H. Pettersen, pastor of Grace
Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories. Friends may call at the Chapel of
Memories after noon Wednesday.
Virgil William Card - 1973
Funeral services for Virgil William Card, 62, of 850 Brookside Ave., Evansdale, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday
at the Capel of Memories West with the Rev. Arnold H. Melz, pastor of Christ Lutheran Church, officiating.
Burial will be in the Garden of Memories.

Mrs. Card died at St. Francis Hospital at 12:10 a.m. Monday of complications of cancer.

He was born Feb. 25, 1911, in New Hartford, to Floyd and Etta Tucker Card.

Mr. Card lived in Waterloo most of his life. He was self-employed as a landscaper.

He married Evelyn Hansen March 21, 1934, in Winthrop Harbor, Ill.

Survivors include his wife; his father, 1122 River Forest Rd.; two sone, Virgil Jr., Jesup, and Staff Sgt. Vincent
Card, the 82
nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, N.C.; one daughter, Mrs. Victoria Fisher, 850 Brookside Ave.,
Evansdale; six grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; four brothers, Sam. 163 University, the Rev. L. C.
Dayton, Ohio, Floyd Jr.; 116 W. Wellington St. and Gale, 232 Gilbert Dr. Evansdale; and one sister, Mrs.
Goldie Davis, 1127 Chalmer Ave.

He was preceded in death by his mother and one sister.

Friends may call at the Chapel of Memories West until service time.
