Vernon H. Card - Parkersburg Eclipse, Oct 1, 1986
Vernon H. Card, of Rt. 1 Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the son of Elmer and Viola Willard Card on October 23,
1919, at his present farm east of Parkersburg. However at the age of one week his family moved to
Parkersburg, where he attended school and graduated from the Parkersburg High School in 1938. Following his
graduation he moved back to his present farm and home.

On February 18, 1950, Vernon was united in marriage to Kathryn Bronsema in the First Congregational Church
in Parkersburg, with Rev. Lower conducting the marriage vows. They have lived at their present farm their entire
married life.

Vernon enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, and trapping, and nature and the outdoors. He was a member of the
First Congregational Church in Parkersburg.

About 10:30 p.m. Saturday, September 27, 1986, Vernon died in the emergency room at Sartori Memorial
Hospital in Cedar Falls, where he had been rushed there by ambulance. He reached the age of 66 years, 11
months and 4 days. Preceded in death by his 11 year old son, Mitchell Paul Card, and his parents.

Vernon is survived by his wife, Kathryn and his son Mike Card.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, 1986, in the First Congregational Church in
Parkersburg, with Rev. Rod Wetzig officiating. Arlyce Lindeman is the organist with Pastor Rod singing "One
Day At A Time" and "How Great Thou Art". Honorary Casket bearers will be Steve Johnson, Gary Eastman,
Don Huisman, And Craig Anderson. Casket bearers will be Dave Abk(l)es, Curt Peterson, Bob Schell, and Lon
Horback, Bill Flemming and Al Mulder. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg Iowa.

Duane (Bill) Card - 1989
Duane A. Card was born the son of Louis and Lyla Sells Card on January 18, 1918 in New Hartford, Iowa.
He attended school in Parkersburg, Iowa.

On February 18, 1945, Bill was united in marriage to Marcella Turner in Corning, Ark. They lived in
Parkersburg and presently live in Apt. 1 C, 202 North Johnson Street, Parkersburg, Iowa. However, Bill has
been a resident of the Veterans Home in Marshalltown, since 1984

Bill served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He later worked at many various jobs, both in factories and
construction work. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Parkersbug.

At 8:30 p.m. Friday, April 28, 1989, Bill died at the Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. He reached the
age of 71 years, 3 months, and 10 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louie and Lyla Card.

Bill is survived by his wife, Marcella Card, Parkersburg; 2 daughters, Melva Jean, Mrs. Charles Plummer and
Shirley Anne, Mrs. James l. Fleshner both of Waterloo; 2 sons, Allen Duane (Butch) Card, Gladbrook, and
Louie L. Card Hopkinsville, KY; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; 1 brother, Forest Card, Tucson,
Arizona; and 2 sisters, Flossie Card, Pason, Arizona, and Evelyn Moulds, Muscatine, Iowa.

Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 1, 1989 in the Parkersburg United Methodist Church with
Rev. Jim Beranek Officiating. Arnold Flater was the organist and Stan Thompson sang "In the Garden" and
"Amazing Grace". The Congregational Hymn was "How Great Thou Art". Casket bearers were: Alfred Buss,
Rich Mobley, Darwin Mobley, Charles Barrett, John Eilers and Glen Roman. Interment followed in Codner
Cemetery, rural Parkersburg, Iowa.

Terry Card - Tribune Journal, January 29, 1998
Terry George Card, 43, of Collins, died Sunday, January 18, 1998 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines from
Cancer.

Terry was born September 26, 1954 at Hampton, the son of George and Ollie JoAnn Rinnels Card. He was
united in marriage to Kris Klindt May 4, 1974. He graduated in 1973 from Allison-Bristow High School and
for the past 18 years was a semi-truck mechanic at the Jim Hawk Truck and Trailers in Des Moines. He was
affiliated with the former Lighthouse Temple of Altoona and also the Ashton Chapel. He was a past member of
the Collins Lions Club, a member of the N.R.A. and various softball Leagues. Terry enjoyed hunting, fishing,
auto mechanics and watching his sons participate in sporting events.

He is survived by his wife, Kris of Collins; 2 sons; Adam and B. J. at home; his mother and step-father; Ollie
JoAnn and Paul Bergloff of Waterloo, Iowa; a brother and his wife; Tim and Tracy Card of Eldora, Iowa; a
sister and her husband; Deb and Randy McIntyre of New Providence, Iowa; his maternal grandmother; Edna
Rinnels of Allison; step-grandparents: Charles and Bernice Bergloff of Boone, Iowa; 2 brother-in-laws and
their wives: Doug and Linday Klindt of Kansas City, MO.; Pete and Susie Klindt of Indianola, Iowa; and a
sister-in-law and her husband, Barbara and Tim Esau of Tulsa, OK.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Card, and grandparents: Herman Rinnels; and Orie and
Martha Card.

Memorial services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 1998, at the Collins United Methodist
Church with Pastor Lowell Whistler officiating. Burial will be in the Collins Evergreen Cemetery near Collins.

Memorials may be made to the Terry Card Memorial Fund.

Jolene Joy Sents of R.R. 2, Aplington, Iowa, was born the daughter of Clifton, C. and Henrietta Kampman
Card on February ??, 1947, at Hampton, Iowa. She received her education at the Hampton Community
School and graduated in 1965.

On June 9, 1967, Jolene was united in marriage to Kenneth Sents at St. James Lutheran Church in Allison,
Iowa. After their marriage they made their home in Allison, the Shell Rock, ????, before moving to Rural
Route Aplington, Iowa. Jolene was a member of the Aplington Baptist Church. She was very active ????
church as a Director of the Bible School and Youth ????. Before becoming a member of the Aplington Baptist
church, she was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Hamptom, Iowa where she was Sunday
School Teacher and Choir Director.

For ten years Jolene had been fighting a battle with cancer. On ???day, June 1, 1992, at 7:26 p.m., Jolene
died at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa. She reached the age of 45 years and 4 months.

Jolene is survived by: her husband, Kenneth of Rural Rout, Aplington, Iowa; One Daughter, Melissa, Mrs.
Tom Lindaman, Aplington, Iowa; One Son Kevin Sents of Ackley, Iowa; her parents, Clifton and Henrietta
Card of Allison, Iowa; One Sister, ??? Mrs. David Hauser of Clarksville, Iowa; Paternal grandparents, Mrs.
And Mrs. Chester Card of Dumont, Iowa.

Memorial Services were held on Thursday, June 4, 1992 at ?? P.m. in the Aplington Baptist Church,
Aplingotn, Iowa, with the Rev. James Renke officiating. The organist was Mrs. ???? Ostercamp and pianist
was Mrs. Mary Ann Larson. Soloist was Mrs. Joyce Frey who sang "Beyond The Sunset". Congregation
Hymns were "Jesus Loves Me", "Solid Rock", "Have Thy Own Way Lord". Acting as Honorary Casket
bearer was Clarence Laube. Those acting as Honorary Casket bearers were: Ray Robinson, Roland Harms,
Tom Poock, John Neuhaus, ?? Laube and Dale Jansen. Interment was held before the memorial service in the
Pleasant View Cemetery at Aplington, Iowa.

Schwartz Funeral Home of Aplington, Iowa was in charge of arrangements.
