Donald D. Card - Allison Tribune, Feb. 16, 1984
Donald Dean Card of 812 5th Street, Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the son of Chester and Kathyrn Bolten
Card on July 15, 1928, in Dumont, Iowa. He graduated. From the Dumont High School in 1946, and served in
the United States Army and was stationed in Seoul, Korea.

On December 22, 1956 Don was united in marriage to Agnes Buseman in the parsonage of Bethel Reformed
Church, North Aplington. They lived in Parkersburg, where Don owned and operated the Card's Body Shop
from 1951, until September 19, 1983, at which time he sold his business.

Don was a member of the Hope Reformed Church and had served as a Deacon. He also was a member of the
Aplington Amvets.

Don had suffered from cancer for the past 3 ½ months, and died at 11:50 a.m., Tuesday, February 7, 1984, in
Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, where he had been a patient since January 27th.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes; two sons, Brian and Brent, who are both serving in the United States Navy
and stationed at Long Beach, Calif.; his parents, Chester and Kathryn Card of Dumont; 4 brothers, Dallas of
Alexander, Ia., Clifton of Allison, and Delores (Toot) and Bob, both of Dumont; and a sister, Judy John of Des
Moines.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 9, 1984, in the Hope Reformed Church in
Parkersburg, with Rev. Melvin Voss officiating. Lois Fisher was the organist and Lois Fisher and Stan Schipper
sand "Jesus & Me". The casket bearers were: Ken Walker, Harley Schwerdtfeger, Willard Vanderholt, Delbert
Husiman, Lawrence Van Hauen, and Bernett Buss. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg with full
military service conducted by the Aplinton Amvets Post 102 and the Parkersburg Am. Legion.

Schwartz-Engelkes Funeral Home in Parkersburg was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
Bruno Bronsema - Allison Tribune, Aug. 29, 1985
Bruno Bronsema of 1001 Dorothy Street, Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the son of Harm and Lena Reints
Bronsema on January 16, 1907, in Butler County, near Parkersburg, Iowa. He attended rural school near his
home.

On December 10, 1935, Bruno was united in marriage to Vera Radeff in Freeport, Ill. They farmed in the
Stout area until retiring and moving to Parkersburg, in 1965.

Bruno enjoyed people, especially children, also the outdoors, hunting, trapping and fishing. He was still an
active fur dealer for the Parkersburg area. He attended the Calvary Baptist Church.

At 7:46 a.m., Tuesday, August 20, 1985, Bruno died at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo where he had
been admitted for testing and observation the night before. He reached the age of 78 years, 7 months and 4
days. He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis, who died on March 14, 1980, his parents, two brothers,
Jack and Edo Bronsema, and a sister, Angaline Bronsema.

Bruno is survived by his wife, Vera of Parkersburg; two daughters, Mrs. Verlen Horbach of Toledo, and
Janelle, Mrs. William Fleming of Osage; eight grandchildren, Lance Horbach, Lori Sirman, Lon, Larry, Lisa
and Lee Horbach, and Teri and B.J. Fleming; and two sister, Mrs. Johanna Kadous and Katherine, Mrs.
Vernon Card, both of Parkersburg.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 23, 1985, in the Calvary Baptist Church in
Parkersburg, with Rev. Howard Anderson officiating. Mrs. Roma Ries was the organist, and Esther
Schwerdtfeger was the vocalist. Honorary casket bearers were: Loren Hagen, Harold Lynch, Raymond
Simon, Jake Hemmen, Gary Eastman, and Herman Miller. Casket bearers were: Denny Hagen, Abel Schrage,
Charles Etjen, William Bergman, Delbert Huisman and Clarence Bergman. Interment followed in Oak Hill
Cemetery in Parkersburg, Iowa.
Harry H. Codner, Jr. - Allison Tribune, Feb. 16, 1995
Harry H. Codner, Jr. age 72, of Allison, was born November 17, 1922, in Allison, the son of Harry H.
Codner, Sr. and Gladys Givson Pagel. He received his education from the Allison High School, graduating in
1940.

Harry was united in marriage to Mary Javotte Weires on September 3, 1942, in Lancaster, MN. From 1943 -
1945, he served in the United States Army during World War II.

They farmed in the Allison area, and later he was a farm manager for Hawkeye Institute of Technology, retiring
in 1985.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and belonged to many organizations, including; U.S. Army,
was on the Allison School Board; Baseball Director; Butler County Fair Board; Iowa Horse Racing
Association; Round Grove Country Club Board; and Harry was also a lifetime Amvet and Legion member in
Allison.

On February 8, 1995, Harry passed away at the Waverly Municipal Hospital in Waverly.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Javotte Codner, of Allison; five sons; Steven Codner, Kansas City, KS;
Robert Codner, Urbandale, IA; Michael Codner, Bristow, IA; Patrick Codner, Columbus, OH; and William
Codner, Allison; a sister, Mrs. Harold (Maxine) Poppen of Allison; nine grandchildren; and seven great
grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 11, 1995, 10:30 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in
Greene with Fr. Walter Brunkan officiating. The organist was Mrs. Richard Frascht. The soloists were Zoe
Ann Keen and Mrs. Shirley Wubbena, who sang "On Eagles Wing", "Battle Hymn of the Republic", and "Let
There Be Peace". The gift carriers were Carol Ballhagen, Kristi Kramer and Keri Codner. The pallbearers
were John Codner, Craig Codner, Brad Codner, Casey Codner, Kyle Codner and Tyler Codner. Burial was
at the Allison Cemetery with Military Rites.

Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home of Allison was in charge of the arrangements.
